Family meal at Derby Lodge Huyton
Family meal at Derby Lodge Huyton Merseyside was extremely bad. Staff were nice and apologetic but the food was atrocious.
My meal was the first ordered and never turned up. Had to wait until other members were half way through before it arrived. Beef and ale pie was ok but came with a small lump of mashed potato that was dry, rememiscent of it being sat under a heat lamp and the garden peas were also dry. It resembled more a child's Meal than an adult's.
A Meal of smothered platter was sent back after two bites. The chicken, which was pictured as golden crusted in the menu came dark brown and all three meats were over cooked and bland tasting. The total meal was swimming in cooking oil.
Other meals were well below standard and this can only be blamed on the cook. We got a couple of free drinks and 25% bill reduction but this did nothing to bolster any thought of returning to this establishment that we've frequented for over 30 years with more bad experiences than good so I think it's a permanent goodbye to Derby Lodge for us now.
